Well i'm looking at custom painting my cart i was wondering on how i should go about preping it and any suggestions on paint to use or will i be ok to just scuff it and paint it like a car any help would be great Thanks |
Re: How to Prep my cart
First of all, WELCOME TO THE FORUM!!!!
If your cart has a steel body, prep it like a car. If it is plastic, you will need an adhesion promoter before the primer or just use Krylon fusion paint made for plastic. |

Re: How to Prep my cart
Scuff up that body before painting, and make sure its dust free before primer/paint!!!!!

Re: How to Prep my cart
Don't scuff it too much! Some of these bodies get VERY rough when you try to scuff them too much. IMO, just lightly scuff it enough to see the scuff marks!
Like tungpo said, make double sure that the body is CLEAN before you paint it/primer it. |
Re: How to Prep my cart
scuff with 1000 grit, I suggest priming before paint that will fill in any scratches

Re: How to Prep my cart
If when you prep you reach metal you need to spray etching primer

Followed with 4 coats of PPG Millenium Yellow Single Stage Enamel: http://www.hotboatpics.com/pics/data...zgo_063low.jpg Take your time on the prep. The rest, well, you learn as you go. I had never painted anything before. |
