2g-4g-2g «link» through the obc
Hello!
My cart wont charge like it should, and I think/hope it’s because my negative cable doesn’t go through the obc. My 2g cable won’t fit through the hole in the obc, so I was thinking I could just cut the 2g, and put in a short 4g cable that goes through the obc, and attach it to the 2g again. So the same cable would be 2g-4g (a couple on inched through the obc)-2g. Would this work? Any potential problems with this solution? |
Re: 2g-4g-2g «link» through the obc
I would think that thi would add an area of resistance and some what defeat the purpose of going to the larger cable in the first place. Why not just spilt your cable and just order one of the bolts that Scotty B has.

That’s right. Get one of Scotty’s studs from cartsunlimited.net. The cart won’t charge without that cable through there. DON’T drill the hole out! (Sounds obvious but it happens a lot.)[emoji52]
BTW some 2G cables will go through there with a bit of lubrication... |

You can also buy a brass bolt 5/16 x 3.5" long, cut the head off and build your own stud.
You can find the US brass bolts in the specialty bolt & nut section at Lowes. You will also need 4 brass nuts and a some washers, refer to the picture below. Wrap a few turns of electric tape (about 1 inch long) in the exposed threads that go inside the OBC (no shown in the picture below) to prevent any abrasive wear. You don't want the assembly tight around the OBC, just snug or even a little loose is fine as long as the cable lugs are firmly tight between the two nuts in each side. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/attac...g-obc-stud.jpg |

1 Attachment(s)
It should fit unless it has super thick insulation on the cable. Attachment 189292

BTW, toilet bolts are also cheap, use the magnet. |

Lube the cable and it should slide. If you have the lug on just bend it like a "U" and push it through, then bend it back flat afterwards.
