Spring Kits for Clutches?????

Guys,
Wanted some opinions on the Spring and spring kits for the clutches. I see they sell the one red spring and they say it increases torque and a smoother take off. Then I see a kit with two springs and a Heavy duty belt. I was also told that these kill some speed from the cart. I would like to hear from some of you guys who have done this and what your opinions are. I use this cart to pull my race car back after each pass. It will usually have 4 big guys on it and pulling the car.

Thanks in advance.

Carlo C.

I wish I could help...

The stiffer spring won’t necessarily cost you top speed... but there will be an rpm cost. The stiffer spring in the secondary makes your motor work harder to get to the tall end. If your primary won’t push the belt to the tall end of the primary... you may have to increase your max rpms to push it up there... the cost being the lifespan of the motor.... or you don’t work your motor harder and accept the speed loss.

I think I’d increase the torque... accept a little speed loss... and be happy going fast down the track only one direction

I did a spring on my Yamaha and definitely improved the low end torque. Lost a little top end but not much.

I did an upgrade on a key start Club Car a while back. I got the heavy duty springs from Gboost.
It would pull Pikes Peak but could not get it to run over 10 MPH before it hit the rev limiter.
