Torque gears?

Has anyone seen installed a set of torque gears in there CC? I see everyone installing speed gears but I need torque to go up hills. Any suggestions? Thanks

Re: Torque gears?

Nah, no other gears for torque. Torque comes from proper clutch operation and having the correct belt that’s in good shape.

Check the clutches for wear, and for proper operation.
Make sure the belt is not worn. If the belt is old replace it, and use a quality belt, not the aftermarket cheapos from the jungle store.

If you have a lift and larger tires then look into getting a power spring for the secondary clutch, and combine that with a severe duty belt that sits higher up in the clutch.

Last thing is to make adjustments to the throttle and/or governor cables to make sure the engine is getting full throttle when climbing hills. This can be tricky because if these are incorrectly adjusted the cart will run off the rev limiter on flat ground or when going downhill and can cause engine damage if the rev limiter is disconnected or not functioning correctly.

Wouldn't a power spring in the driven clutch wear out the drive belt faster?

No, it just makes it stay closed longer providing more torque. Once it opens it works like normal.

How much torque are you trying to gain?

On a stock belt… probably. That’s why you run the heavy duty belt.
Either way it causes the clutches to wear faster. When you wanna play harder you’re gonna wear stuff out regardless.

Thats what I was thinking. :lhmo:
We are currently running a heavy duty belt, works better.
