36v to 48v conversion on 2000 ds club car.

Just bought a 2000 ds. I think it has been converted to a 48v.
My problem is when I step on the go pedal and hear the first click then depress the pedal just a little more The machine will snap your head back. Too much torque. Has a 700 amp. controler.

This old coddger can"t handle this! What's wrong? What can I do?

If you have the wrong throttle type the cart and the control will not sync.
What is the model # of the controller?

Since the cart starts off at full throttle you will need to test the throttle signal. We know it should be around 5000 to start and near 0 when the pedal is on the floor.
Simply remove the 2 small wires plugged into the controller pins #2&3 and plug your test meter into these spade connectors. Set the meter to ohms. A 20,000 Ω range is best. But any reading such as 5.5 would represent 5500Ω

Tested the throttle signal as you said.
in forward, key on and no pedal reads 6.93 oms.
pedal all the way to floor reads 0.0 oms

Re: 36v to 48v conversion on 2000 ds club car.

7000 is higher than I like to see for a 5000-0 throttle signal. Can the grandson adjust the linkage until it is closer to 6000?

Has anybody been adjusting the throttle ramp rate on this controller?
Could just be maxed out?

We don't really know.
