Z06 Graduates to 48V!
The cart was a 1997 36v Fleet style with an Alltrax AXE 400amp Programmable Controler, as well as 4g Welding Cables. All else on the cart was stock electricly, except for extra 12v goodies. The Alltrax controller was allready rated for 48v.
I added 2-6v batteries wired in series for a total of 48vdc, one under the drivers side, and one in the passenger's bagwell: http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l2...art/48vBay.jpg http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l2...rt/4bvBay2.jpg http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l2...8thBattery.jpg http://i92.photobucket.com/albums/l2...t/PassThru.jpg The white wire from the cart charge receptacle was moved from it's original position at the Main Pack Positive upstream 2 batteries to it's new position on battery 3 positive terminal. Now the Powerwise charger only "sees" 36vdc and can still be used as normal. The additional charger is hooked up across batteries 1 and 2 in the pack, and as such only "sees" 12vdc. I like it. The wiring is simple enough once you figure out to stay away from factory wiring. Very nice job gornoman. When you start thinking about this stuff it want turn you loose sometimes until you do it. Great job.

And yes there is yellow overspray. While I did shoot the primer on both sides of the plastic body panels, I reserved the Yellow for the outside. That stuff's expensive! |

Hi Gorno... I like the way you work.
Just as a thought I think the 2 newer batteries should be charged with the 12v charger and the rest "used" batteries with your powerwise. There is a number of reasons that you will probably know and I don't have to mention I guess... Just a thought... |

did you have to upgrade your soilenoid or did you rewire the cables going to the small terminal to only use 36v and if you did how did you do it

Gorno did you leave the same resistor 5w 250ohm for 48v?
As far as I know for 48v, it is better to use a 470ohm 10w resistor. This to balance to the same level as in 36v with the 250ohm resistor. Alltrax suggest to use a 10w resistor in either impedance. |
