I took apart my front end today.

And it did not surprise me that every other bolt was loose. . Alright so i took everything apart and took some pics and I have a few questions. I am going to clean every part and paint it then put it back together. BTW I am not the one who put the front end together last and it was probably a LONG time ago when the lift was put on. lol. Please tell me if everything looks good and if theres any parts I need to put new. I am pretty sure I need a new front leaf spring.

I will put the questions on top of the pictures.

Thanks,
Mike

How do my shocks look? Do they need to be replaced?

Pretty dirty HUH? Well I took most of that apart as you can see in further pics. Also, I took i think its called the spindle off and the leaf spring stuff off and cleaned all that to be painted.

BTW, when I am going over a hill or just in general offroading or a curve or something my golf cart makes like a cracking sound. I was told it could be a broken weld but the more I hear it, the more it sounds like plastic or something. Where should I look for the thing that is making the sound and what could it be?

Thank you guys. Mike

If that is the original 1989 leaf, definitely replace it. Club Car shocks are crap from the factory, replace them. Id take apart the tie rods and clean the ends up really good and put all new, fresh grease in them. Get new rubber seals for the tie rods too. I don't know if it is just the angle the pic was taken at or what, but it looks like the passenger side delta plate is twisted. Another thing to do would be take the hubs off the spindles, clean them spotless inside, and repack with grease. Take off the dust covers, there is a castle nut in there, pull out the key, and take the nut off. The hubs shouldn't come off too bad, may take a little tugging or a few light taps. Whereever there is a grease zerk, I'd take the part apart, clean it spotless, and put brand new grease in there. There are zerks on each end of the delta plates, the 3 tie rod ends, and the drop spindle king pins.

Anything else anyone would like to add?

Check those shocks.....I'm still not 100% sure which way is up on those. I tried to compress them the way they are pointed right now on your cart and they gave an inch or so before catching.....then turned them the other side up (the way I have mine now) and there is no give. I put mine like this.

One more thing, if you cut one of those (do NOT scratch the shock) rubber jounce bumper things off, it will let you hit larger bumps and jar the cart less. Don't go ramming curbs though just because you can.
