G1 Custom lift

5 Attachment(s)
I took my g1 body off and me and my friends made a homeade 5 inch suspension lift on a rainy cold afternoon. Keeping it real low budget and it is working nice. Now the lift is done im going to paint it and put a bigger piston in along with shaving the head! thanks for all your help

how did you lift the front

Re: G1 Custom lift

we made drop brackets for each piece of the suspension and welded them in place they were actually like 6inches but leaving space for the bolts made the lift more like 5 inches. the hardest part was the steering knuckel that comes off the shaft. we cut it in half and extended it and we had to change the angle to make the tires not off camber a few times of cutting and welding and it worked great

is there any good aftermarket exhuast for this? i was thinking of just making my own or is an aftermarket really going to help with the performance?

here are some pics of the front lift! the rear was definately alot easier. The front doesnt look as good but it works great and i like knowing that i did it myself.

search on banshee pipe on g1. one of the best builds of a G1 was on buggies unlimited.
do pre mix, bike carb , banshee pipe and you should be able to double the horsepower

i just bought my first cart today (g1)...i think im going to do the same thing you did and just build my own lift. Doesn't look to hard how much time total do you think it took you to make your lift?
thanks paul

hey paul it wasnt too bad makn the lift. the rear was real easy i'd say it took about an hour maybe two. The front took about three i wanted to make sure that all the drops i made were perfect so it didnt sit lower on one side.

Re: G1 Custom lift

great.I would much rather spend 5 hours making my own lift than spending 300.00 to buy one.
thanks paul:thumbup:
