marathon running
again, my marathon is acting weird...
sometimes while I am cruising down the road my cart feels like it just shifted gears. the R's will be cruising along, then all of a sudden the cart takes off and the R's drop down just a little but the cart starts to haul ***, is it something in the clutches, I grew up riding snowmobiles up north and cant remember that happening with them. If something is breaking I would rather fix it now before it breaks any ideas :? |
Re: marathon running
I've seen this happen with the drive clutch wearing so it kinda has a step or a hump in it. If a cart is continually use at low speeds over extended periods of time it'll wear the sheaves like that. easy enough to check, just feel the sheave and see if it's flat and smooth and doesn't hump/step in towards the center.

Re: marathon running
ruredy, I am a boat mechanic and dont wanna sound dumb, how do you "feels the sheaves" :help:
|
Re: marathon running
The sheave are the faces on the clutch that the belts ride on. I just run my fingers up and down them.

Re: marathon running
thanks ruredy, I will check it out when I get home

Re: marathon running
well i checked the sheaves last night and there were no grooves or ridges in it. I bought this cart a few months back from a dealer here in Austin and they said they replaced the belt, when I was on it this weekend at the lake when I took off the belt started squealing, do I need a new belt again??? :help:
|
Re: marathon running
squealing happens alot if the starter belt isn't tight. if it's the drive belt try turning it around.

Re: marathon running
I will check the starter belt, I didnt even think about that belt
