V glide function seems reversed on Curtis 1205-117

I have a mid 90s club car with the V glide (step resistor style) connected to a Curtis 1205-117. The cart starts at full speed when just engaging the pedal. and slows down the farther I engage the pedal. I am obviously not sending the right resistance signals to the speed controller. I tried swapping the white wire and black wire but since it's a function of resistance it makes no difference. I also tried placing one of the leads at different steps with no good effect. is there a way to reverse the function of the vglide simply?

Anybody have an idea for reversing this? looks like its setup to slide from 0-5k and I need it going 5k-0 based on how the controller is responding. Is there a physical way to do this, or possibly to reteach the (older curtis 1205) new throttle limits?

The change is very simple but You need to figure out if that Controller wants a 2-wire 5k-0Ω (Non-Club Car rheostat) or a Club Car 3-wire throttle (unfortunately also commonly referred to a 5k-0Ω throttle).

This post shows You what wires to change:

The difference is that You don't need the wire to Controller B- on a Non Club Car 2-wire 5k-0Ω rheostat throttle.

Changing any of your wires may still not help. The Curtis 1205-117 was a control designed to be used with ITS throttle types. The Club Car equivelent control would be a 1204-412.

Thanks very much Sergio, I’m very close. The three wire method is closest to working properly but in forward the motor doesn’t engage until the wiper hits the seventh post. It runs slowly there but Then quickly speeds up on the 8th post and full throttle is dead. All the posts are clean and contact seems to be good.

Worth mentioning I had the the wires backwards at the throttle pins initially and essentially the same thing happened except it didn’t start until the 8th post and the 9th post was full throttle. The 2 wire method gave crazy results

Any other thoughts?

Ditch v glide pot a pot box conversion

Like jeremy98 pointed out, that Controller model number is for an Ezgo ITS and it will not work with a potentiometer.

Thanks gentlemen.

I had an its and it tests out fine. I will be mounting it up and should be able to use existing rod throw to operate it. Thanks again for the confirmation. Learning more about the different types of pots and sensors as I go.
