Yanmar swap

Looking for advice on a diesel Yanmar swap. A buddy is giving me a running generator motor that has a tapered shaft, my first question is can it be made to work with a straight shaft clutch for a affordable price or do I need to pick a different engine?

There are several crankshaft adapters on e-bay that make it possible to run a straight shaft clutch. You have to know what type taper is on the crankshaft.

Is it an l70 with the 3/4 shaft and taper at the end? I made a 1" adapter to slide over the shaft, and welded it in place, then cut the keyway in on my mill, but it could be done with a dremel

If someone is willing to give you the engine, you take it! You figure out the specifics later.

There are several off the shelf adapters out there. I purchased one for a club car XRT1550 with the Kubota D722, took it to a machine shop, $95 later, I have a 1", 1/4" keyway stub shaft adapter for my current build.

Check out these guys: https://www.hayescouplings.com/produ...e-stub-shafts/
They will even custom make an adapter for you.
