2008 EzGo RXV max voltage?

Thinking of going with some Nissan Leaf Lithium cells and would like to know how much voltage the 2008 RXV can handle before the controller or something else burns up.

Thanks,

Joel

No one has gone Lithium on a RXV? or gone with more voltage? Please let me know what you've done with your RXVs.

I have gone over 50v with lithium with zero problems. The controller activates the "burn off resistor" at 66v (if I recall correctly). That would happen during braking (very heavy regen) to prevent overvoltage, and you don't want to be hitting that often. I think 52-54v would be a good target. Remember, regen braking is a Rxv's only normal braking. This pack is 52.8v.

67v seems to be the default. it is adjustable from 45-80v with as low as a user level handset.

Re: 2008 EzGo RXV max voltage?

After this summer with my aging batteries, I am again looking at the option to go with the Leaf Lithium batteries. has anyone retrofitted some Leaf batteries (or similar - size/cost) in an RXV (Ac motor)?

If I go with 7 of them (@7.6 ) = 53.2 or (@8.4 max) = 58.8.

The question is, will almost 59volts be too much for the 2008 RXV's controller? to handle. I'm trying to get an idea if the cart can handle the little extra voltage from the leaf batteries before trying to piece together a solution.

I have a 350 amp controller. It and the motor can take 67v?

This thread was originally about 2012 & prior Danaher Rxv's. If yours is a 350a, it must most likely be a newer Curtis rxv. If so, it sure can accept 67v. But here's the catch, there are several software parameters that must be changed for a good operating setup. You should contact BobBoyce (can't be done through PM, but look around & you will see who to talk to for how to get in touch with him). The controller is capable of even more volts, if configured right. Bob is the wizard.

It's a 2017. Thank you.

I was hoping he would chime in.

The burn off resistor is a nice safety feature. I didn't realize you could program it. That should help because you really don't want to over-volt your lithium pack and heavy regen (like on a hill) could do that.
