Any tips on changing rear bushings
 

Have a 99 carryall and the rear suspension bushings are shot. Any tips for changing them out.(blocks, jacks. etc.) I thought you guys would know the easiest way to do this. Gonna change out the front ones too but they look easy.

It's not hard, jack it up under the rear end as high as it will go. use a jack stand under the rear body/frame in front of the rear wheel wells on either side. Then remove the jack and let the rear axle/wheels hang. do 1 bushing at a time, the 2 on the very back are easiest because they're right in front of you. The 2 in the front side of the leaf springs, just remove the bolt, push out the old bushings, push in the new ones and put it back. a little silicone spray helps them get in their home.

I gotta do the same thing......except I have 4 leaf...leaf springs and I want to remove two leafs from each side to soften the rear ride. So.....I'm procrastinating on doing this.

I did a few yesterday. Air tools make a huge difference. If you don’t have those it can be tricky to get the front ones out if the bolts are seized in the bushing sleeves. Those are either hammer them out from the inside, or cut the head off and use a punch to knock them through to the inside. I think you can do that on the left side, but the right side the clutch is in the way, so some cutting/grinding/sawzall may come into play.

Yep, exactly what I had to do on my 96. The clutch really makes life difficult where its at. Luckily hardware is cheap and new bushings make all the difference.

Yeah the worst ones I usually unbolt the U-bolts on the axle and slide the motor/axle back out of the way so I can get to them. Only takes a few minutes to disconnect battery, remove fuel lines, intake tube, and throttle cable. Extra steps, but I'm more comfortable with that than having a firework show right beneath the fuel tank...
