98 ezgo charge meter not showing actual charge

hey, i just took my cart in for a check up on the meter because it showed it wasnt fully charged. the meter isnt showing a full charge, it is fluxuating between empty and 1 bar left even though i charege it every nite for atleast 8 hours. the charger itself is in perfect condition so it isnt the charger that isnt working. when i took it in they replaced the charge meter and it still isnt working. since they couldnt fix it i thought i would give it a try on my own seeing as they couldnt do it. what i really need is either someone who has some idea on how to do this, or a diagram of the electrical system.

you can either post here or email me at: zombor0@yahoo.com

thanks

Welcome to BGW!

More than likely the gauge is bad...this one is the 4th gauge in a week I have seen on the forum that has been bad. 2 were bought brand new and didn't work.

Something to try first:

Charge it up all the way.

Put tow/run switch in TOW.

Disconnect one battery cable in the middle of the set.

Have a cold beverage of your liking.

Re-connect battery cable.

Read your newly reset meter.

If it's still off, replace the meter.

Good luck. ;-)

You forgot to tell him to put the run/tow back into "Run". LOL!

Put it back in run AFTER reconnecting the battery cable.

Just razzin ya PG!

thanks guys. ill try that in the morning. its been storming all day today and i dont want to plug that in with all the hydrogen gas given off and the lightening out side. a friend of my grandparents just had their garage burst into flames because of the gas igniting.
