a little sluggish

i just recentley traded for a g8 golf cart lifted with 22x11.00-10
and it just seems like it dosnt have any low end you press the gas it fires right up at takes off but very slowly even in neutral it still bogs like it struggles to make the rpms but once it is spinning I can let off and hit it again and its fine its like just off idle Shoot me any ideas maybe i just not use to a golf cart

Is it a 2 stroke? Then it would be the G1 engine. Sounds like leaky intake/dirty carb/or maybe bad crank seals. Seals you often need to choke to get it to run when they get bad. Shove something up the exhaust and make sure its open. If the 4 stroke you have to look at other things but they do have an intake spacer than can crack.

Make sure the airbox is together tightly with no leaks or they don't run well, idle mix 1.5 turn out or 1.25 if it likes it. See if that helps.

well look like air box is all square and sealed did have mix at 1.5 put it at 1.25 seems to help a little but still low on power

Sounds like it needs maintenance done on it. You will learn tons by reading the whole Yamaha site. Your G8 will benefit from all the people that post here. Believe me, mine has!
Good luck Mike

Anthony,
Lets start with, thats a nice car!!
And yes, if the filter is new or looks new, keep it. plug, replace it, other cheap parts, yes, replace.
Read the site, I'm talking about drive belt, clutches, maint. on clutches, fluids, motor mounts, torque cable, throttle cable, wheel alignment, tire pressure, trany fluid, elect. connections, the list go on and on. from the looks of that car, probably not much wrong, but until you know and check you won't know, and thats why you need to read the site. It will also teach you what to do when it does break, which by the way, Yamaha's never do.
Any way, very nice car, mine is a g8, and I have done some air cleaner mods and jetted the carb. alittle bigger, and by passed the gov. All this has increased throttle response. So you can make them alittle better!
Please read, all your questions are answered in the site, and you will learn a great deal!

This car was a real heap when I brought it home.

Re: a little sluggish

You certainly could have clutch issues that is what they do they bog out, but has nothing to do with how it runs in neutral. You can clean and lube the clutches and it can make a large difference. Far as neutral it should rev somewhat quick, but they do have a large flywheel on them like a lawnmower so it will rev about as quick as they do, slower than say a motorcycle or ATV. Also check the motor mounts and the tension cable if it has one, if the motor moves towards the trans under torque it will bog out with no power. It holds the rpm down (in 'high gear' more or less) when it shifts wrong. When you have 9hp, you better shift right or you don't go very quick at all. Also if the belt is near or at 1" wide it is shot and you need a new one. 1 3/16 is new width, for a lifted cart about 1 1/16 it gets doggy, unlifted spec is 1" to replace. This is mostly for takeoff they are not that bad going faster with worn belt.
