2001.5 and up steering shaft with front spring lift block

I have a 2003 ezgo txt with the new style steering rack on the axle. It has a 6" drop axle lift. I want to add another 1.5" using a lift block between the front spring and body. Will the steering shaft separate or will it be fine? If it won't work is there an easy way to extend it for the increased lift?

I'm sure someones ran across this before on newer steering rack carts.

Tomorrow I will disassemble and measure then report back with findings.

i think the problem u ill run into the most is the tie rod at end of rack will get stuck on leaf spring when u take right hand turns

I put the 2" blocks between the spring and frame. No problem with tie rod of course because I never touched the axle to spring configuration. The new style steering shaft with rack on axle is too short now as I suspected. Here's a picture for anyone interested in their 2001.5+ txt that wants more then 6" lift without going to a long travel suspension.

I plan on cutting the steering shaft, adding a sleeve and welding it back together. More pictures to follow once I get the correct size steel tubing.

Wonder if they make a pto extension that would work? Just a thought.

I don't know if they do or not. I figured someone has encountered this before and had a solution but I guess not.

Ok I cut and extended the steering shaft today. First test drive, the front end comes off the ground (700 amp FSIP and D&D motor) and the steering shaft disconnects.

Ok this is bad. I didn't make it long enough obviously. So picture 3 is the new, longer shaft that doesn't disconnect if I wheelie.

Hello! I have to do this to my cart as well. What size steel tubing did you end up using? Thanks!
