1984 Club Car Headlight Wiring Harness?

I have an '84 Club Car DS. I want to replace 35-watt headlamps with some LED lamps. The socket is similar to those that take an 1157 brake/turn signal type bulb. But the OEM bulbs have a ring brazed onto them that secures them to the OEM socket, and replacement-type bulbs don't have that ring. I'd like to replace the original sockets with the kind that will take a regular 1157-type base, and still fit into the lens assembly. I found one that does the former, but not the latter - it won't fit into the back of the lens assembly. Anybody done this? What socket did you use? I see a couple that look like possibilities (here's one), but wanted to know whether anyone had actually done it yet.

Thanks in advance.

Okay, I found a workaround for this. I bought a couple LEDs to replace the original bulbs. I destroyed the old bulbs by (carefully) crushing the bulbs, clearing the glass out of the center of the base, then using tin snips and needle-nose pliers to cut and twist the base out of the collar that holds the light in place. I had to grind down a couple nubs on the side of the base of the LED. After that, the collar, with some coaxing, will slip over the base of the LED to hold it in place. Works like a charm.
