'04 DS Charge Issue

Just looking for someone to confirm my thoughts.

'04 DS as mentioned, plug the charger in, it clicks but no real ammeter movement.

Pack voltage 47V

53V across the charge socket at the + and - terminals with it plugged in.

Shorted the black socket wire to the pack negative and the charger jumps to 15A.

Checked all leads solidly connected to the charge socket.

Cleaned all leads and terminals, replaced the terminal on the red charge lead.

Checked the continuity of all cables and the earth of the black charge wire at the controller.

I'm assuming OBC death but would like someone with more experience to confirm if possible or let me know if I have missed anything.

Thanks in advance,
Rob

You're right, the OBC is not sending the signal to the charger to turn on. You can try an OBC reset per the following note:

Check voltage to Make sure the fuse in the little yellow fuse holder next to the port is good. And make sure the wire hasnít separated from the fuse holder inside the yellow rubber boot.

Sorry Fellas,

I forgot to add that I had reset the controller and checked both fuses for continuity.

Looks like it's a new OBC then, thanks.

Probably. But Iíve had the wire detach from the metal fuse holder inside the yellow boot before. Everything looked fine and fuse was good but there was still no continuity from one end of the fuse holder to the other. Easy check and worth one last try!

I'll double check it before I order, thanks.

Re: '04 DS Charge Issue

If the charger clicks the OBC is turning the charger on.
The OBC is not allowing charger current to pass to the batteries, which may be a different failure, or may be a failed fuse on the charge receptacle.
Check the receptacle fuse, also check the short black wire from the OBC to the controller B- terminal is connected properly and isn't corroded or cooked. After sometime in the mid 00s there was a spade connector in the middle of the black wire which can corrode and cause problems. If wiring and fuse check out OK, then the OBC is bad.
