HELP.... Newbie
I bought a 36 volt analog meter and it came with no instructions!!!! Just a + mark on one of the terminals. Also, according to my calipers it’s a 2 1/8 inch hole I need in my carbon fiber dash... any suggestions on how to cut this hole (hole saw, dremel, or step drill)?
please help... thanks in advance, Twink 1998 CC DS 36 Volt |

masking tape on either side and cone cutter (which i think you guys call a step drill) and be careful

Re: HELP.... Newbie
You can hook one side to your key switch and the other to your battery, I have used a hole saw, but you will need to be careful, it can tear the dash if you do not take your time. Could just use a dremel as well, depends on what tools you have.

Re: HELP.... Newbie
Use a 2,1/4 inch hole saw and center it and hook the neg. side of the gauge to the main neg. on the batteries and then put the pos. side to the key switch and that ways it only comes on when you turn the key on.

Re: HELP.... Newbie
ok , thanks for the help - I was just reading a few threads under the search and there seems to be a lot of discussion on to wire it to the key or directly to the batteries... there is no light in the gauge so it shouldn’t draw and power... I read to gauge will do a lot of bouncing under power when wired to the key switch... if I wire it directly to the batteries will that stop?

Re: HELP.... Newbie
I wire all mine to the key switch just to save wire...... I see no bouncing?

Re: HELP.... Newbie
twink - something to think about before you start drilling holes.
Plan out your dash for any future mods you might add. (12 volt plug, iPod holder, toggle switch's etc, etc.) I didnt do this and didnt think about ever adding anything else. Few months later, I wanted too, but I had put something smack in the middle and wasted room and space. Just my .02 |
