Jakes disc brakes keep warping discs

1 Attachment(s)
Anyone else have this issue? On my second set of replacement discs, they keep warping and moving the pad around when the wheel spins

Also I have 27” tires so maybe that has something to do with it? I’m not super impressed with the stopping power but I know it’s prob because I have big
tires

Any other big tire stopping options out there ?

Do you have front brakes or just rear?

If you keep warping front brakes, the rear brakes may not be doing enough braking. There could be an adjustment issue or the shoes may be poor quality.

Discs up front and stock drums on back

I’ll try new shoes with the next swap good idea

I have the jakes hydro discs on the front with 22's and can stop on a dime from 30 mph. It took some doing to get everything set up correctly and synchronized with the rear drums. Warped discs may indicate heat build up due to dragging pads. Have you checked to see if they are dragging or slightly engaged without applying the brakes?

Good point, I ordered a new set of discs and will take a closer look when I go to replace them

So the pads shouldn’t be touching the disc at all with no brake applied? I think that might be my issue

They should be contacting the disc without any pressure. With the wheel off the ground, it should spin as if there were not brakes on the wheel. In other words, no resistance just like before you installed the brakes. For me it was a lot of trial and error.
