Not a good weekend for the cart need help
I've got a 2004 48v precedent, batteries good voltage good, stock controller upgraded motor not sure the brand.
Over the weekend noticed a very small rear end leak, filled it up with fluid and figured I need seal kit. Played golf after it was full and I've never had a rear end roar or any noise coming out of the rear end. At the end of the round all of a sudden I'm getting a power up then hard motor power loss, let off the pedal power up and power loss. Goes down hill fine again no rear end noise so in my mind the seal leak and power issue is two different things but need your help and thoughts to trouble shoot. Thanks, |
Re: Not a good weekend for the cart need help
Any oil leak from the rear axle should be obvious. Where is it leaking from? Wheel end or the center? I've had two that got bottomed out and started leaking between the case seams.
Check your battery voltage while driving. Kinda sounds like the pack is getting tired and not holding enough capacity for a full round anymore. Could also have something to do with the "upgrade" motor pulling more amps than normal. It might help if you pull the rear access cover off and let us know a brand/model number for the motor. |
Re: Not a good weekend for the cart need help
Ok cart batteries are fine both static and under a load like I suspected. the cart has slowed to a crawl, it seems to start off fine but then for maybe 50 yards then power cuts out, you let off the gas, then push back down and takes off for a second or to then cuts out again almost like it's kicking in neutral. Any new thoughts? Oh and is there a seal kit on the transaxle gear housing seems the leak is a small drip leak right where the case marries together.

Oil leak & cart slowing ... maybe the rear end is broken. Seen it before.

Big update...
Ok had some real time today to get her on jack stands double check everything. So here's the update:
Rear end leak solved, embarrassed to say loose plug. rear end is fine. Batteries strong dropped 3 volts at full load, 53 to 50 When doing the load test jacked up she let go again same symptom went to full speed easy, then ran there for a few seconds and like you hit the neutral switch and slowed to a crawl. The solenoid didn't click off until I released the pedal and clicked again when I pushed it down so I think it's working properly. Played with the drive wheel, it has a little play but not much and no bearing grind. So maybe the motor let go? what else to a need to check? |

Sounds like a speed sensor.
