Installing heavy duty leaf springs on 93 club car

anyone ever experience problems with brake cables after installing heavy duty leaf springs? I just installed a set and now when I drop the cart - the brakes are locked up and the pedal doesn't move at all..... Just wondering if anyone has experienced the same......

so as it turns out, lowering the cart without securing the leaf springs with new longer u-bolts causes some flexing in the frame and pulls the brake cables tight, locking up the brakes. Installed new longer u-bolts and all is well again..... just have to get shock extenders now since the shocks are too short....

I am going to install new heavy duty springs also and I just read your post. So, where can I find shock extenders?

I have the same issue for the shocks...

Found this on another forum:
I use Monroe 31069 or Gabriel 81270. The right lenth and studs on both ends. :D
Link to Monroe...
http://www.monroe.com/catalog_lookup...iscappinfo.asp
and Gabriel showing the two parts interchange...
http://www.gabriel.com/ProductFinder.aspx

They fit an '83 Mazda GLC (rear shocks) amongst others... Advance AP lists them as Monroe p/n 56000 when I look up by application. They are 10 3/4 compressed and 17 1/4 extended. Sounds to me like it's a match for my application and at $16.99 I get 2 for the price of one when compared to what you pay for the ones that say "golf" in front of them.

On the brakes you just need to adjust them out a bit. The raised suspension causes the brake cables to get tight..

Couple questions about HD leaf springs also...
- I have a stock '89 that I'm adding a rear seat to. I've received box 1 - the cushions and am expecting box 2- the frame this week.

I understand it doesn't take much to flatten the rear springs with people on the rear. So I anticipate that I'll need HD leaf springs. So my questions:
- Seems like a big jump from 1 spring to a 4 leaf assembly. Seems like I've seen 3 leaf springs somewhere though I can't find them now. Will the ride be a lot firmer with the HD springs?
- Has anyone tried the add-on spring? I can't remember either which site had the add-on spring. It was just an additional spring that was flat and added to the one that's on already. Do they work?
- Does a stock cart need the shock extenders also? I've just read this part for the first time. How much of an extender? .5", 1"?
- Same with brake adjusting. Is it necessary on all?

Thanks
