1 positive battery post getting hot

This is a new to me cart I have been working on its a Cushman hawk but I have néw batteries in it and I am sure it is wired right. I have one battery where the posit I've terminal is hot to touch where it will burn you. I was looking for the hot smell when I found it. It is in the middle of the pack no other wires on it. Negative wire is cool to touch. Could it be a bad connection with the battery cable? Or do I have a bad battery?

Generally a hot connection means it is loose or the cable has internal corrosion.

thanks I will change it to check, once I get it all worked out I might step up to 2ga cables.

If you don't have a high performance cart or run it hard on inclines, heavy loads and such there is no need to go past 4 gauge wires.

I have some good inclines and I believe its a 400amp controller

4 gauge is fine for a 400 amp controller. I have a 500 amp and could have gone with 4 gauge... But 2 gauge was only another 20 bucks since I built my own.

Replace that cable or clean the connection ASAP before you melt the post.

I replaced cable and it seemed to take care of the problem

It's always a good idea to check for hot connections every so often - and especially after doing work on the cart. Glad you got it sorted.
