07 DS Shock and Frame Issue

1 Attachment(s)
I recently purchased a stock 07’ CC DS. After installing a 6” Jakes Double A Arm lift and 23” tires, it was clear that the rear shocks needed to be replaced. After seeing it posted on several threads, I elected to go with Monroe 31176 shocks. Please see the attached picture.
#1- During installation I noticed that the vertical support piece that connects the frame to the upper connection mount for the left rear shock was completely snapped. Really not sure if it happened prior to me owning it, during lift install, etc. Is this something that can be welded back?
#2- not sure if I messed something up during the installation, but the new shocks have virtually no space to compress. Seems like the shocks may be oversized? This adds to the severity of #1 above since that left rear shock bottoms out with every bump and sends all the force directly into that unsupported frame piece the shock is mounted to. I’m currently not driving it until I figure this out.

First of all WELCOME!

Not sure what's going on. With the upper shock mount broken off then that tells me the cart either went airborne and the downward force on landing exceeded the leaf spring resistance and bottomed the shock. Or, the cart has been heavily loaded and wore the rear leaf springs out. If the pic in your avatar is post lift install, it appears the cart has a sag to the rear which indicates weak leaf springs and the short shock travel available. I have the same Monroe shock on my DS and there is approx. 1.5" of travel until totally compressed.

What he said... you're gonna want to replace the rear leaf springs. They're shot.

And yes, you can weld that piece back on

x3

I had the same dampeners on my DS with HD springs with no issues.
