2012 precedent- oil on inside surface of drum housing?
2 Attachment(s)
Took the brake drum housing off to check brake shoes when swapping my new tires and wheels on this evening and saw some oil on the inside of the brake drum housing as well as on the outside surface of the wheel axle. Is this normal or is a seal gone?

You may have the begining of an axle seal failing. Are the brake shoes oily too?

Pull the axles and replace the seals. Once the oil reaches the shoes they will be junk. It is impossible to clean the oil once absorbed by the friction material.

It could be where someone lubed the sliders. You should be able to look and see if the axle seals are leaking.
