1991 EZGO... Slow up hills
 

My father inlaws cart seems to take hills pretty slow. It does'nt stop but slows down a good bit. It runs pretty good on flat ground. He just bought it and we were told by the past owner that all batteries were replaced recently. Now we know that this cart is not a speed demon but we would like to insure that this thing is running the best that it can. How can we determine how old the batteries are? Any dates on them anywhere? When we charge it what should the charger say on it as far as voltage? Any other things that we can check? We're not looking to upgrade anything. We just want to make sure it's in good running condition.

Trojan Batteries have a stamp on the post like A0 that is a January 2010 battery.

Charge the batteries and then let the cart sit off the charger for at least 24 hours then use a digital voltage meter / Multi-tester. Take a reading of the Pack voltage then check each battery. Stock carts are going to slow down some going up a hill.

These old series carts are pretty slow going uphill.
Check to make sure the brakes aren't dragging.
Keep your cables clean and tight.
Recharge your cart each time you have more than 1/2 hour of run time on it.
A full charge on a 36v cart should be 38.2v or better for relatively new batteries.

Sometimes the potentiometer can get out of whack. Not saying this is the issue but rather another item to check since it has a direct impact on speed.

This is assuming you have a DC motor controller in your cart and not a set of resistor coils since EZGO made both control types in 91.
