Allied Lithium drop in batteries
My Trojan batteries are not lasting like they used to so I’m looking for better replacement options.
Has anyone tried Allied Lithium batteries? They claim it is a drop in set of 4 12.8 volt batteries to replace the 6x 8 volt batteries. They are 1700 for a set of 50AH and $2000 for 60AH. |
Re: Allied Lithium drop in batteries
Even 60AH is marginal. Not sure what type of batteries they are selling. Most of us here are using recycled Electric car batteries. Some at 60 AH but most at 120AH.

Re: Allied Lithium drop in batteries
I dunno if Allied was one of the products someone else was looking at or not. But, $2-K for a 60AH setup is more costly than my 60AH Leaf setup.
Now, my total cost included an on board charger and a ZEVA BMS that balances the individual cells, has a LV and HV cutoff for pack protection. Does Allied have these features? |

Here’s a picture of the brand. Lithium Charger is sold separately but they claim you can use your existing charger.

Re: Allied Lithium drop in batteries
You're not going to be getting 35-40 mile range with a 60ah pack unless it's going in an AC drive system possibly.

I thought this might be too good to be true.

Re: Allied Lithium drop in batteries
We just started carrying the Allied Batteries, and have been testing them with the Navitas AC conversions with good results. With the OTF controls set to the factory preset we are getting around 32-36mi of varied driving with the 80a battery pack - about 26-28 or so with a much more agressive setting. As to charging, the built-in BMS seems to be doing it's thing, and they charge just fine using the OEM ERIC charger. We are hoping to put together a 72v system soon w the Navitas, that should be a pretty good "extreme" test for the 100a packs when they come in.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f464c973a4.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f8a8dada5d.jpg

Re: Allied Lithium drop in batteries
If You have technical info on the batteries, do they support more than 4 in Series for charging a 72v system with a single high voltage charger?
