99 club car killing batteries
Hello, had a recent discussion about this cart. Replaced entire battery pack. Cart ran great for two days. Then it went back to going slow if at all. Replaced pack again, same thing. Now it just killed a third pack. What the heck is killing these battery packs?. Also bypassed the obc, same results.

Re: 99 club car killing batteries
Those batteries don't look new, what is the voltage 12 hours after full charge.
Also unhook all the extra wires going to the batteries except the ones from charge port. You may have something draining the batteries, you could have a bad cell in one battery or more. The voltage will help tell more about what's going on. |

55.3 after 12 hour charge.

Looks like 4/17 on one battery have you load tested the batteries ?Have you took a hydrometer to each cell after charging?Where are these battery packs coming from? Are local interstate battery store has what they call econo battery’s they sell for about half of new seen them on customers unit have the time there junk! After it dies check each battery see what kinda of voltage. Also you said you bypassed the obc how are you charging these packs you sure your not overcharging the pack?

Re: 99 club car killing batteries
I know that the pack in the picture is bad. My question is what would cause 3 packs to go bad in less than a year?

Let the battery pack fully charge and turn off automatically. Then "wait" 12 hours and check the pack voltage at that time. If you have bypassed your OBC and are still running the OEM Powerdrive charger, that is 100% what is ruining those batteries as you are never ever charging them, you are only surface charging the plates and you are killing the cells. Not to mention those appear to be used batteries and you never know what you are getting there...... |
