I have seen some message threads here about programming the DCX controller with Windows 8 and windows 10...

I can tell you it will work with Windows 10.

The cable I used was: Sabrent SBT-USC6M 6 feet USB to RS-232 DB9 Serial 9 pin Adapter (Prolific PL2303)

Went to Sabrent website downloaded latest drivers (I did not use the CD that came with it) and then started up the Alltrax software and no problems. I did not have to do any windows compatibility mode....
