2007 Precedent Gas Engine
 

Hello.

I am so new at this, it is embarrassing.

I just bought this 2007 club Car Precedent gas. I want to confirm whether I have an FE290 or FE350. Other posts mentioned the sticker on the shroud. It looks like I don't have a shroud. Is there anywhere else I can find the info or is there a way to tell?

The main reason why I am wondering is because I am looking at possibly getting a fuel pump. The 2007 manual I got on line says my cart has a FE350 and shows a round fuel pump that is described as "kit, fuel pump retrofit". But the one I have in my cart is the square pump. So did the previous owner replace the pump with the wrong one or does my cart not have a FE350???

I guess ultimately, either pump would work. But I would really like to be sure in case I need to something like a carb part or anything that is engine specific.

Thanks for your help. (I know. The cart is filthy. The previous owner used it on a farm and being winter here, I haven't had a chance to give it a good cleaning)

The label would be on the shroud over the fan/flywheel. From your second picture, it would be on the far side of the engine - near the muffler. As to the fuel pump, those very rarely go bad. Check the simple things first: Clean the air vent (round screen in the center of that fuel pump body), make sure the pulse line from the engine doesn't have too much slack, Make sure the pickup tube in the fuel tank is still connected and free from debris in the tank that can get sucked up and clog the tube.

I would recommend this fuel pump.

They’re an oem mikuni and same as oem club car but half the price. Only difference is it has a Briggs emblem cast into the plastic

But before spending any money, I’d really recommend diagnosing what is actually
Wrong with the cart. Guessing at parts and replacing random parts is a frustrating and expensive way to fix a cart.

Why do you believe it needs a fuel pump?

Oooohh!!! OK. I thought I was looking for a shroud over the rocker cover. The shroud is over the fan I guess. Makes sense.

The cart is in the garage against a wall and am always standing on the passenger side. I likely did not stretch enough. I'll look again tonight.

CP241 - Thank you for the advice. I thought I could smell gas in my oil. Although not very high, the oil seems very fluid. It looks diluted. The oil on the dipstick does not ignite so I guess there is not that much fuel in there if any (trick given to me by a mechanic friend lol)

I was looking at the price of pumps to see if it was worth opening and cleaning vs replacing if it gets to that.

It is winter here and I bought the car in very cold weather after being stored for months and with a weak battery. Needless to say that the test drive was not ideal. It was hard to start and once started and driving, it had mild backfires (more like a sneeze) when easing off on the gas pedal. Exhaust seems to smell a bit. I am hoping everything will be OK and that all this was related to cold weather.

I do see some debris at the bottom of the tank which makes me consider a carb cleanup.

If your smelling fuel in the oil i would look into the carb bowl float and float valve, not the fuel pump.

Maybe a little off subject but my wifes uncle has a zero turn that the carb would leak by so bad that if it sat over night the carb would leak into the combustion chamber and down the cylinder walls into the crank case basically hydro locking it. After he fixed it twice and did it once again he finally said screw it and put a fuel shut off valve going to the carb and never had the problem again.
