TXT Series cart upgrade question

New guy here. I recently was gifted a 36v EZ-Go Series TXT with a few goodies on it including the rear seats, some kind of lift, 22x11's, a Curtis 350A controller and a few other cosmetic goodies. The cart runs great but seems to die pretty quick. I went ahead and swapped out the #6 cable for some copper 1/0 with soldered lugs although it didn't seem to make much of a difference.

I am guessing it is due for new batteries but is there anything else I should be replacing? I was thinking maybe a heavy duty solenoid since mine gets somewhere between warm and hot after driving around.

Suggestions appreciated!

Where do you use it and how? Sounds like you need batteries soon. 48v might be an option.

Re: TXT Series cart upgrade question

Its a neighborhood cruiser. We do have some hills and even though they aren't extreme, i typically have myself the wife and 3 kiddos on it adding up to about 500lbs. (Kiddos are young)

I called a local shop and he suggested the Trojan 105's@$125 each.
If i go 48V, i assume i would pick up 8volt instead of 6volt batteries? I would prefer to just stick with 6 batteries if possible. Beyond that i am looking at a charger for sure, solenoid, possibly a controller and even a motor?

It would have to be a night and day difference to jump to 48V if that's the case.

You can run an Alltrax SPM48400 with a max output of 460 amps on 48v the stock 36v motor would produce 33% more speed and about 45% more torque for the hills. Needed:
SPM48400
200 HD solenoid
48v Charger
6/8v batteries.

This would result in a big improvement in performance.

Re: TXT Series cart upgrade question

So assuming the battery prices are pretty close, i am looking at

SPM48400 $350
200HD Solenoid $50
48V Charger $300-350

Does that look about right? Is the fwd/rev assembly good for 48V? I assume it is but figured i should ask.

Am i significantly lowering the life of the motor by running it on 48V?
