98 Ezgo TXT - leveling

1 Attachment(s)
Good Morning! Newbie here.
Just lifted my 98 Ezgo TXT gas. Drop axle in front, blocks in rear. Cart has HD rear spring, standard springs in front.

Cart now sit tail high. What's the easiest way to level things out?

Was thinking about shortening rear spring shackles? I don't really want to lift the front more. The don't really wanna go taller.
Thanks!

Why not just remove the rear shackles?

Hmmm... don't the rear shackles have some use??

I think removing the rear lift blocks would be too much.

How would the springs flex?

FLEX!!....FLEX!!....We don't need no stinking flex!!! :lhmo:

I posted that when my grey matter was obviously in re-boot mode. Man....I hate when that happens.

Actually......my TXT is currently in the same situation. Since I swapped out my 8 flooded acid batteries that weighed a total of 520-lbs for my lithium set that weighs 80-lbs, the weight loss of 440-lbs has caused my HD rear springs to be very unforgiving. My plan is to remove two of the 4 individual leafs that make up the HD set. For me, it's not the height that matters.....but the fact that my kidneys scream when I hit big bumps.

Just remove the smallest leaf and see what it looks like. Some guys just use one leaf and use a light coil over shock to take the extra load. Air bags or air shocks would do the same. Some Harley's have air shocks that I've seen used, I prob have a pair laying in my garage, seems like I tried them once.

You could also add some plate to the front suspension mounts to raise it up 1/4" or 1/2" at a time.

How much too high is it? From the pic it only looks like an inch or two.

Thanks for the ideas. I think I'll order a couple plates for each side and see how that goes. I found them cheap enough.

Same thing happened to me I just installed a Jakes 3” spindle lift on my 1998 EZGO 36 Volt and the dang rear end sits about 3” taller than the front and looks so goofy. Drives me nuts I’m at a stand still not wanting to raise the front more. I even bought new rear shackles and cut them down to try and get it a little lower but didn’t do much. I’m at a stand still.

I ordered and received a couple additional spring plates for the front springs. Thinking that is the most appropriate place to raise the front a little. Haven't had the time yet to install. I'll keep you posted.

Let me know how it turns out, where did you buy that plates?
