2002 CC DS runs at half speed

A friend has a 2002 Club Car DS with new batteries this spring. Recently it started only going about half speed. Once in a while it will run normal but 90% of the time it runs at the slow speed.

Any idea on where one would begin to look to find the problem?

I would start by checking the speed sensor. Make sure it is connected and not loose.

Is this an IQ or a series car? (Does it have a Tow/Run switch under the seat)
