1998 ez-go txt gas

My 295 Robin froze on me so I switched to the 350. When I tried to put the breather box back on I noticed the carb on the 350 is a 1/2" longer so ithe box wouldn't fit. I took the old carb from the 295 and put it on the 350. I haven't tried to start it the battery was dead and I ran out of time. My question is how much trouble will the 350 have with that carb on it?

The carburetors are the same in size. Only main jet is different in the 11 hp VS 9hp . You need the 350 carb in order for it to run correct. Don't use the 9hp carb.

Check the long studs to see if maybe you got too thick of a spacer on it or maybe two. Air box should work on both engines.

There isn't any spacers on the carb.

The real name is insulators but I always call them spacers.

They go on the both the 295cc and 350 Pre Mci engines .

The 295 engines came with 25/64th inch thick spacers/insulators.

The 350 engines came with 51/64th inch thick spacers/insulators.

I keep one each here at my shop.

Sometimes people will swap out engines and not see them when they remove the carb. All the engines I have messed with had them on it.

part # for 350 cc engines is 72311-G01
part # for 295 cc is 26637-G01
You could always use the 295 cc carb and change the jet from the 350 cc into it. Hope you get this sorted out. That air box should work on both , if not some here go with the K&N change over.

I got everything on and it runs for a few seconds with the choke on but backfires bad.

Compression is ??

I actually ordered a compression test kit a real nice one. Itll be here in a few days.
Meanwhile I can't get this thing running right. I check the plugs, they're getting good spark. I adjusted the valves to .004, they were off very little.
I put on a new coil and fresh gas and oil change and still it's running at 1/4 speed.
I don't have a clue how to check the timing and can't for the life of me find anything about how to do it on YouTube.

Make sure your throttle is opening up wide open on carburetor. Look good at it with a flashlight if you have to.
There is no ignition timing to set unless you tweaked the crankshaft key a little but not something we normally do.

You could check the valve timing but you will have to remove the drive clutch off engine to do this. Still sort of hard while the engine is in the cart. Best on workbench.

Wait on the compression tester and post your reading. Disable ignition by removing the front small wire on coil. Hold throttle wide open when testing the compression. Very important because you will get low reading if not.

I also noticed the green wire on the voltage regulator isnt attached to anything. I've looked and looked, I can't figure out where its supposed to go.
