Texas Beach Requirements(?)

I'm a golf cart rookie and not even sure if this is the right forum to post in, but I have a few questions regarding cart access to beaches. The in-laws have a time share in Galveston and we plan on going in June. I was hoping to take the cart down there to have some fun on the beach and to drive around the resort. So please bear with me as some of these questions may sound stupid.

I read online that in Texas, golf carts are allowed on public and private beaches..
-Are there any permits I need to get ahead of time to drive it out to the beach?
-Can I take it out on ANY beach or is it only limited to beaches with vehicle access?
-Does it have to be street legal to be out on the beach?
-My cart is stock height and has regular tires. I figure I'll drive it only on the hard packed areas and not the deep soft sand. But do I need off road or all terrain tires just to be safe?
Thanks in advance for your help!!

I don't know of any place in Texas you can legally ride a golf cart. I pay 100.00 a year to ride mine in Port Aransas . They consider the beach a public roadway .

Considering who is the law in the area, and who you would be dealing with there....I would contact the department and pose your questions directly to the source.

Took it to Port A this week. It was a real head turner out on the beach. Had a blast

Galveston waving a high-five and a Sandy paw,
Golf carts require a sticker depending on which side of the island you are on depends on which color sticker you get the red sticker represents in town
lights brakes turn signals horns all have to work the West end sticker is green and you do not need to turn signals or all of that stuff the only way that you can drive on the beach here in Galveston is, you need a handicap sticker this will get you anywhere you need to go, and the police will leave you alone

Really I didn't know that. I guess I was riding my cart illegally down there then. I took it out on Jamaica beach area and saw some other carts as well. Mine's fully street legal so I had the lights on plus the triangle so didn't really give anyone an excuse to pull me over. I also took it to Port A this week and rode around the condo and to the beach. Guess there's so many golf carts down there that no police would pull me over to question just one cart. Good to know thanks

Funny you said Jamaica Beach, Jamaica Beach is a city that incorporated, and is not part of Galveston
