Help!! Golf cart goes by itself!

This forum is beyond helpful! I've found answers to almost all my golf cart problems. However, I have another one! Found out yesterday a coil was broken, but this never stopped the golf cart from running. We were having arcing problems at the contacts on the wiper board even though the brush assembly was replaced. Contacts are smooth and in good condition. Once the brush assembly was replaced, the arcing was worse. This is why we checked the coils then found one broken. Repaired the broken coil and now the golf cart moves in forward and reverse when the key is turned on without pressing the accelerator. The brush assembly remains on the first contact (dead one) on the wiper board even with the golf cart moving. Once the accelerator is pressed, it moves up the wiper board. HELP! Have checked all the wiring and everything seems fine. Any other suggestions?

If you want a reliable cart you may want to start here http://www.cartsunlimited.net/conversion-kits.html

Just a thought.

I was looking at the conversion kits today and this will probably be my next move if I can't get it fixed. :( Sounds like it would definitely be worth it!

Sounds like your solenoid clicking when the key is turned on.
If so, fix the pedal switch.

Found the problem....apparently the previous owner had added a wire to bypass the issue with the bad brush assembly. When we replaced it, we had too much power going to the wiper board. When we unhooked that wire, everything was fixed. We had double power going to the solenoid.

Ok I’m having this exact same issue. Could you please tell me where the extra wire was? Maybe the previous owner did the same to me.
