83 Club Car project

Traded a $150 deer feeder for this cart. I think it was a good deal. Guy said the batteries are shot, although they really don't look all that old.

So now to decide what direction to take it. Most likely will convert it from resistor to solid state speed control system. If I upgrade to 48V battery pack will 400 amp Alltrax, 200 amp HD solenoid work?

Won't let me post pics yet...

Once you get a third post you should be able to post pics. Sounds like you got a good deal. Scottyb is your man when it comes to upgrades...

Welcome to BGW!

Burn up another post or two and we'll be able to see pics of that bad boy.

The size of the controller needed will be determined by how you want to mod/use the cart, as Jake said, scottyb is THE GUY when it comes to upgrades and conversions.

I'm getting a message that says I can't post pics until after being a member for 7 days... Oh well, I get em up here in 7 days. I will keep the thread updated and I'm sure I will be seeking plenty of advice. This forum is awesome! I've been reading for a while but just joined when I finally got my project cart. This is gonna be fun.

If im just going to use it for golf and as a neighborhood ride, would it make sense to just get new batteries (6-6volts) keeping the resistor system or is upgrading to solid state pretty much required if I want a dependable cart even if I keep it at 36 volts?
I know not converting to solid state will save me $700 but I'm not opposed to doing it if in the end it's worth the investment for my intended use for the cart. I know it's required if I want to upgrade to a 48 volt battery pack but just looking for pros and cons on converting if keeping it 36V.
