New here and have tried the search box with no luck.

SITSUM: Want to carry cart in truck while pulling camper. To limit weight aft of rear axle, I want to load cart rear first into bed keeping the bulk of the weight fwd of the axle.

Looking to fabricate a bagwell winch install, vice installing in bed of truck.

Has this been done yet?

If so, can you point me to the thread.

Put a hitch receiver on the cart and use it as a winch mount. Removable and portable if it has clips for the battery.

Not enough room for that. Wouldn't leave enough room to get cart completely up into bed. The downfall of having a shortbed p/u. I need to have the winch in the bagwell to get the rear bumper up to the front bed wall.

I've already designed a way to fold my entire rear seating up and forward against the top supports to provide the clearance for the rear bumper to get up to the front of the bed. Basically, the entire rear seating frame will be upside down for transport. (Not completed yet, but getting the hardware together to do it) I'll share that mod as soon as I'm done.

So nobody has tackled this kind of mod for a rear winch in the bagwell?

Have you considered buying a 12-V "Portable" winch similar to this: http://www.northerntool.com/shop/too...6652_200466652 where you could just bolt the mounting plate in your bag well, and when you need to winch up the cart, you just slide in the winch, hook up the power and winch in the cart.

Yes Dave. I've researched those and I prefer the "Master Lock" brand here:
They are just so friggin slow.

This Mile Marker 2HP has a line speed of 21.8 fpm at 500lbs, whereas the smaller Master Lock, and others like the one you cited, has around 6 fpm. It would take 2+ duty cycles to get the cart in the truck with those smaller winches.

Plus, the Mile Marker one uses the synthetic rope which I like as well.

But my inquiry was more geared toward structural mounting and electrical control.

Was hoping someone had already tackled those issues and wanted to see how they worked it out.

Not sure I want to drive up backwards on those ramps. My thought process here is two fold.

1. Bulk of weight on cart forward of rear axle since my trailer will also be placing weight on rear of truck. Hence rear facing forward.

1. Not to have to drive up ramps forward or backwards. Winching will keep all forces on the ramps in a forward direction against the tailgate to eliminate any possibility of ramps sliding backwards and off the tailgate lip during loading and unloading.

Unfortunately straping the ramps only provides so much protection. Its even more of a wrong direction force on the ramps with a gas cart than an electric cart. Electric carts have more control over slow speeds.

So I ordered the Mile Marker PE2.5 ATV 2500lb Winch with Synthetic Rope Package

When I get the mounting design for the bag well all figured out and installed, I'll post the result.
