K&N air filter
 

I put a K&N air filter on my G2. She's backfiring a little when I let off the pedal. I'm thinking I need more fuel. Should I jet the carb or just keep playing with the fuel screw on the carb? Thx. for any replies!:thumbup:

Yes, jet up the carb. as you read the spark plug.

It depends on what allitude your car is at. Mine is at 6500' and it is jetted at .042, and it is a bit rich. You need to read the plug(needs to be tan or gray), but you do it at wot. Then kill the ignition before you lift off the throttle, then get the gear shift to neutral as soon as possible. Coast to a stop, let engine cool, pull plug, read the side of the porceline, the deeper down inside the better It should be tan or gray( the different colors depends on origin of the fuel). If it is WHITE IT IS LEAN and you can destroy an engine in seconds, HOLE IN PISTON!!! So know what your doing (search or google how to jet).

Or you can go the cheap way and start filing out the stock jet with a torch tip cleaner like I did. Took me about 6 times, but the bowl and jet will come off the cart fairly easily without removing the carb.

The idle jet is only for the idle, once you open the throttle about 10% it has no effect.

best idea i think if you aren't wayy up in elavation like mike there, is too get plowman's 2 jet kit, it has a pilet and main jets for the right mixture all the way through the throttle range.

thanks for the replies, sabercat I'm in North Carolina which is 350ft above sea level and im about to gut or put a quad exhaust on her. any replies would be great! thanks all

Reid, at 350', you can take advantage of good air, and make all kinds of power! You might start with at least an .046 drill bit if you still have the stock muffler on it and the K&N. If the muffler is moded, then your out of my realm of knowledge.

with the muff moded like mine just = more fuel for the more air in and out.
