2005 Club Car DS 48V headlight problem, voltage reducer bad?

Have a 2005 Club Car DS that sat for about 6 months. Came with headlight kit installed from dealer (we bought it 10 years ago). 48V car.

Got it ready to sell, got a good offer, and discovered headlights aren't working.

Have 50.4V across battery pack (not connected to charger), brand new batteries.

Reading 8.3V at headlight switch.

Reading 50.4V across voltage reducer input (+) and (-)

Reading 8.3V at OEM (p/n 15950) voltage reducer (+) output to frame, 0 V across reducer (+) and (-)

Applied 1 battery's voltage to headlight wiring (pulled wires from reducer input, so current is running through wiring harness including fuse), headlights and tail lights come on fine.

Are we looking at a voltage reducer problem? If so, recommendations for replacement model? If not, what should we be checking?

Thanks,

Michelle

Is there 4 wires or 5 wires going to the reducer. You may be missing the trigger wire which usually goes to the key switch if its 5 wire. They're not to expensive Amazon has them or you can get one from the site sponsors. Get a 30amp model.

It's a 4-wire model. Club Car OEM part 15950.

Based on what you described I'd feel safe about ordering another reducer.

Thanks - any recommendations (other than adequate amperage) for a replacement? We have a handshake agreement selling the car to some folks in our golf community and I don't want to delay the new owners starting to enjoy it so we're going to buy local in this instance (or maybe we're going to have to take what the local dealer has....)

If it has a club car model number I think you would be better off to get another from the club car dealer to simplify the installation.

And if you install it yourself be sure to make a drawing of where the wires go and take pictures also.
