Painting Metal Body '95 ez-go 2 stroke

Hi, Noticed the Sticky regarding prep for painting plastic bodies.

OP said he may add one for metal bodies but I didn't see it.

My question is, does a metal body need AP? Is it just plastic that requires it?

Also regarding flaking from the previous job (Not me) can I buy a gel stripper to remove the old paint, instead of sanding? (Id prefer a sandblaster...)

I would suspect I do not need AP for Metal but I should buy a good quality primer or metal. Having also read a related thread, I can go to an auto body shop and by aerosol cans with a one stage all in one primer/paint/clear?

Any input would be appreciated.

thanks,

Alex

No adhesion promoter required on metal. Stripper can be used however I would be sanding afterword and doing any body work. I would suggest a good quality automotive primer followed by wet sanding. Now you are ready for top coat, single stage or two stage, base coat clear coat, or ant other automotive quality paint.

Check this thread, cart was done with base coat clear coat, I added multi color flake to the clear coat.
