Columbia Par Car Engine type and oil required

1 Attachment(s)
Hello All,

I have a Columbia Par Car that was recently purchased. I am trying desperately to determine if this is a two or four stroke engine. And what type of oil should I be using. I am a novice at this, so any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help. Picture of engine is attached.

That's a 2 stroke. If you can find a serial number on it you can find a serial number decoder here which will help you determine the exact year:

Just going by the pic, that looks to be an early 90s cart. 91 - 94 or so.

Your cart can use any 2 cycle oil. That smaller tank next to the gas tank will hold the oil. A note.......

Those carts came with automatic oil systems that mixed oil and gas on demand as the cart was being driven. That system wasn't designed well and a lot of people disconnected it and just mixed gas / oil outside of the cart like you do with a weed wacker or something.

Look to see if if all of the oil lines going to and from your oil are still connected to your engine. If so, the original system is still in place. If not, then your cart has been converted to "manual mix" and you should mix your oil and gas at 85 to 1.

Does this type of engine still require engine oil? Other than the two-stroke oil?

Nope, 2-stroke oil mixed in the gas is all it needs.

Oh no you have oil injection plug that off and run premix which is usually 1 ounce of oil to 1 gallon of gas put that oil injection is a ticking time bomb I saw a little old lady that had a ezgo oil injection fail and she never knew until it stopped running and her son saw it had no compression it needed a new crankshaft new bearings new jug and piston so be careful with that oil injection it can and will grenade your motor
