Engine Replacement for 2003 EZ-GO ST480
 

The engine in my 2003 EZ-GO ST 480 was damaged beyond repair due to lack of oil. The mechanic says it absolutely cannot be rebuilt. The shopezgo.com website will not sell engines directly to a consumer and directed me to the local EZ-GO dealer. I was quoted $2,790 for a replacement through the local EZ-GO dealer!!! That is just for the engine; not installation etc. Cart Parts Plus told me that their EZ-GO engine upgrade kits will not work for an ST 480. Does anyone have a less expensive solution for getting a replacement engine for a 2003 EZ-GO ST480? I am told that the B&S Vanguard engine in the ST480 is a "special make up just for EZ-GO". I can't figure out why B&S would go to the trouble to do a special make up when they already have about 7 other 16.0 hp Vanguard engines commercially available.

I'll do some checking for you. - I do know that that motor was out of stock recently. I'm making some calls right now...

$2790 is kinda cheap, especially for that engine.

How much is your budget for a LESS expensive solution... we are talking here about the WHOLE new motor... the 2700+ price is correct for that motor, anything under 2500 is jump on it if your're lucky to find it b/c that's a hard one to find.

I can put a B&S 7.5 lawnmower engine in it for $795 :mrgreen:

I found the LAST ONE they had and will sell it to whoever needs it (BGW only) for $2,000.00 plus shipping.
