Skinny tires
 

I have a 1990 EZ Go Marathon it’s lifted and I use it for hunting. I have the 22x11-8 mudbusters all the way around. However when I get in mud conditions the front tires ball up with mud and makes going anywhere a real struggle. I was thinking some real skinny tires on the front would be better. Do they make like a 3” wide street tire for golf carts? Or is there a mod of some sort? Thanks in advance.

4 on 4 is the lug pattern you want, there are many different sizes.

You may be better off with wider tires up front. Skinny tires will dig into the mud, which is great if you have 4wd, theyll dig to where it's harder for grip. But with 2wd the front tires will get pushed to the bottom and "sink" faster since they cant climb/crawl out.

Wider tires on front will do a better job of "floating" on top. If you're having issues, and ride in mud regularly, I'd recommend changing the rear tires for an aggressive mud tire that will clean itself easier at low spin for better traction. Super swamper makes a 22x11-10 TSL ATV that would do very well. I believe they make a 22" vampire as well

Use a dirt devil or mud slinger type tread. These treads are designed not to clog up but, throw the mud off when you spin them. Like tractor treads.

Atv's and utv's use thinner tires up front. The thinner tires are better for steering. I run Polaris Scrambler tires and wheels on my cart, they've never let me down. The tires are Carlisle 489's, stock on most Polaris quads. Good all around tires, very good in muddy conditions.

Deep mud? Good luck. Most 2 wheel drive vehicles will get stuck in the deep stuff. If you get high centered, any vehicle will get stuck. That's why I have a winch. :thumbup:

I'm not sure what you have when you say "mud busters" So:

Here is what I use to have on front and back. These tires are pretty much worthless when your in sloppy or quicksand type of mud:

I changed out my rear tires to these. This type of tread (as others have stated) will toss the mud out of the cleats. I love these tires!! You can see the difference between the old tread and the Gator tread tires:

And for the front, I changed to these skinner tires because I needed the front width to fit between my pickup's bed wheelwell's. These front tires are great as well and grab much better and are much better at self cleaning than the old tires.

Rear tires =GBC Gator Tire Size:22-11-10 #AR10314


For the front tires I had to go with a skinner rim. Actually, I purchased rims for....I think a higher speed go cart
