Painting the frame
Last year I tore down my 00 EZGO Workhorse to rebuild it. I wire wheeled the frame to get rid of any rust and loose paint; then resprayed it with a few cans of Rustoleum rattle can junk. Anyway that is as far as I have gone with this cart since last October because some other projects took priority. Now I have an engine for it and almost enough money to continue on with rebuilding the good ole horse. The paint hasn't held up to well in storage, its already scratching off. I want to coat it with rattle can bed line to insure more durability. What's the best way to go about applying this stuff? I really don't want to spray over the unstable Rustoleum because won't it just peal off?

Re: Painting the frame
The bedliner seems to be more like a rubber, so once you get it all the way around the frame, it probably can't/won't come off.
Go have it done at a Line-X place. :-D |
Re: Painting the frame
I dont have $600 to spend on that. But it would be cool! :-D

Re: Painting the frame
I forget what the stuff is called, but it's in a sort-of plain white can and says "Rubberized Under Coating." That stuff is some GOOD stuff. It doesn't cure hard like the bedliner will, but it is flexible and is about the best stuff I have came across.
JUST REMEMBERED! It's made by MAR-HYDE which is made by Bondo. |
Re: Painting the frame
Do you know where I could pick up a few cans of that stuff?

Re: Painting the frame
Try Napa, they usually have it.
Here is a link of what to look for, and apparently it's in a red can. http://www.bondo.com/catalog_item.asp?itemNbr=484 It's not too terribly expensive either. You could do the whole cart with about 4-6 cans I'd think. 8) |

Re: Painting the frame
I have been thinking of doing my Club Car frame in it when I do my 21hp swap, I like the shiny aluminum frame, but I want something DIFFERENT. 8) I put that stuff on a piece of plyboard, and it catches all the water that comes off my roof right on the edge and hasn't warped yet.

Re: Painting the frame
Thanks that looks like good stuff. So do you think a good wire wheeling on the frame should do it or spray it with out doing prep work? The frame is very clean but I don't trust the rustoleum for rust protection down the road.
