1997 48v Power drive (not plus) Wiring diagram

I am a new owner and new here. I tried to do some reading and searching before asking a question, but I need to post.

I picked up a 1997 48v Club Car for my new home in the country. The prev owner had put a lift kit on it and it runs fine. I've owned it about a week and my daughter noticed smoke coming from the battery area.

It looks like the smoke is coming from inside the positive battery terminal cable. Aside from this, I immediately noticed 2 things: battery terminals with a fair amount of corrosion, and at least 2 wires that have been disconnected from *somewhere*.

I am going to mix up some water and baking soda to care for the terminals and maybe end the smoke from the positive terminal cable (I am assuming the terminal is getting too hot and is heating up the plastic).

However, for the disconnected wires, I need to find a schematic for a 1997 48v Power drive Club Car. I've seen a Power drive Plus schematic posted here, but not a Power drive, is the wiring different?

Any pointers or advise is welcome.

thanks

Baking soda is old school- just hose it down with a hose, youll get the same results and not run the risk of damage to your batteries.
The smoking terminal is a concern, its a loose connection- needs to be repaired and make sure it is tight.

Thanks. Now... the terminal itself is not smoking, it is coming from the cable connected to the positive terminal. I will double check if it is loose just the same.

You definetely have to use baking soda, its purpose is to neutralize the acid, otherwise you are just spreading the acid around.

Either way do it away from any area that can be stained, specially concrete driveways.

This diagram should match if you have the CVP (Continously variable Potentiometer).

Sergio - I got "404 not found" on your link - not sure if that happened to OP. I've attached both the CVP and Multistep (from my '96 manual) below. Somehow, I think '97 was Multistep. Hopefully one of these will match his cart.

I was able to see all of the links (thanks Sergio and joesam). I cleaned off the terminals and will be tracing the wires tonight to see what is missing. In addition, the prev owner added a small amp, speakers, and an aux port that I will need to look at.
