Ezgo Series Golf Cart Solenoid will click but won’t run

We have an electric ezgo series golf cart we are trying to fix up. When we press the gas the solenoid will click but nothing happens. There is 36-38 volts coming from the batteries. Any ideas?

April can you check the voltage with a voltage meter and tell us exactly what voltage is?

Also the age of the batteries?

It was around 36 of a little bit over but I can get exact numbers. The batteries are new.

Yes you need the exact numbers. 36 volts is less than 50% charged.

First, check and write down pack voltage. With pedal up, check from both sides of Solenoid to main negative. You should always see pack voltage on one side (the input side connected to battery) and less than pack voltage (or ZERO voltage if you do not have resistor on Solenoid) on the other side (output side connected to controller).

Now, press pedal and when solenoid clicks, check voltage from output side of Solenoid to main negative. If this voltage does not change and match pack voltage, your solenoid has failed (even though it may click).

If you get pack voltage on the output side, solenoid is good. If So, post here and someone will help you with step 2.
