Honda engine swap in Yamaha cart, clutch question
I want to put a Honda water cooled 13hp engine from a riding lawnmower in my G9 cart. How can I get my comet cart clutch to fit the 22mm straight shaft? Can an adapter be made? It also has a 7mm keyway. I know it's close to a 1" shaft with a 1/4" keyway and I have a clutch for that shaft, but it won't fit the Honda shaft. Any help is greatly appreciated.

One member here stated he had a sleeve adapter made.

Re: Honda engine swap in Yamaha cart, clutch question
22mm=@7/8", I guess a sleeve could be done, or see if you can get a 1" crankshaft for the motor. Honestly, after doing evrything for fitment of the radiator and clutch, a lot of effort for a few more hp.... maybe think about the value of selling that motor and buying something that will get you more bang for your buck?

Re: Honda engine swap in Yamaha cart, clutch question
Thanks,
I want the Honda engine because it is very quiet. I think I might take an old Yamaha crankshaft and cut off the tapered end, have it bored to 7/8" and weld it to a 7/8" rigid coupler and couple that to the Honda crank. Any thoughts on that? I just don't want it to fly apart when using. |
Re: Honda engine swap in Yamaha cart, clutch question
you are past my expertise, guess it would work? Keep in mind with a tapered shaft, total length of the shaft will be crirical for proper clutch alignment.

If it does have a 7/8 shaft, you can get a 7/8 to 1" adapter sleeve and then get 1" to 30mm taper adapter from CPP. Probably $60 total. http://cgi.ebay.com/Bronze-Sleeve-2-...item2eaaadac6e If you need basic parts here you go. http://www.planopower.com/store/honda/ht3813.shtml Link to the owner's manual: http://www.hondapowerequipment.com/p...s/31750613.pdf |
Re: Honda engine swap in Yamaha cart, clutch question
I will make it the same length as it is in my engine now. I have a machine shop were I work and I will have them cut and drill for me. If this works I will post it here along with pictures.
Thanks!! |
