93 club car won't go

I have a 1993 club car with the solid state controller 36 volt.
When you put it in forward or reverse you get a click and nothing else.
This cart has new batterys (6 months old). They read around 6 volts each.
What would be your ideas?

well if your batts are only reading 6 volts thats not good they should be reading 6.5 6.7 or there abouts.......1st make sure all cables are good double check battery #,s and even a clicking soleniod can be bad so jack the rear end up and jump the large posts on soleniod but make sure batts and cables are good pull tug each cable to make sure god and tight and clean post what you find and oh yes welcome...........................8)

Re: 93 club car won't go

I took a reading on all the bats and they read 35.9 volts also when you press on the pedal the volt Gage on the dash drops to 0

Re: 93 club car won't go

if your getting 35.9 thats not good at all and if its dropping to 0 than thats even worse you need to load test all batts one at a time......you have a bad one somewhere and that may just be why the cart won,t move it only takes one................so load test and find the bad one or bad ones.................8)

Re: 93 club car won't go

ok i took the bats out of my second cart and cables and i have the same problem so i found how to test the motor a2 to s1 a1 to nev s2 pos and nothing so i am thinking it's a bad motor?

Re: 93 club car won't go

open the motor up, check that no carbon buildup from the brushes is shorting out your commutator or any of the field windings.

put a multimeter on resistance and check the a1 - a2 and f1 - f2.
edit: check to see if resistance is practically 0, if it is you got a short somewhere :S

also do a bench test on the motor by shorting a1 - f1 and a2 - f2
then +12V to a1 - f1 short and neg to a2 - f2 short. this should slowly turn the motor, itll be quite jumpy.

also if you email me or pm me i can talk you through a growler test if you have some sort of electrical/electronic background. its a good way to test the rotor to see if any problems in the rotor :)

gl buddy hope u get it fixed
