2000 48volt club car no movement
 

Have 2000 48 volt club car and it won't move. The motor just jerks and shakes when pedal is pushed. It will creep forward slowly but if any resistance it starts to jerk and won't move. Batteries are year old all have 8.2volts . Cleaned all cables and they look good. Tested pedal it works as should 5000 to 0 ohms when tested. Any suggestions.

That jerk & shudder is usually a sign of extreme low voltage. 6 batteries at 8.2 each should = 49.2 pack volts. That's about 64% charged. Is that what you've got after a full charge cycle and rest period? Try a full pack voltage just sitting there and again under load when you push the pedal. Use long test leads & be prepared to drive in case it DOES decide to move. See what voltage it drops to and let us know. Could be a battery issue, could be a terminal corrosion / cable issue. Just sounds like not enough power getting to the motor.

Be safe...put the rear wheels on jack stands while testing...check voltage at the output side of the solenoid to be sure power is not dropping as goes through the solenoid. Look at the motor studs for any looseness or signs if heat where the cables attach. Do voltage check on both of these locations...work from the motor back until you find a lower voltage reading that show you where the issue is...if voltage readings are good then you may have a motor problem.😎

I will check all those items thank you. I know the connections are all good but not sure if wire's internally could be bad.

Check the voltage at the two small connections on the solenoid to make sure you have 48V.

I checked connections and wires they are good. Voltage at both posts is 48.3volts. Is there supposed to be voltage on both big posts with key on and are all 4 posts supposed to have voltage? When checking voltage with pedal fully depressed voltage drops to 38.7volts. With cart jacked up and pedal depressed left tire spins and I can grab it and the other starts spinning. I can hear the motor or rear differential making noise. Is it possible the motor or gears bad?

Do you hear the solenoid pull in when you step on the throttle? Is this a series or a sepex cart?

You have not got enough voltage for the cart to run. 38 volts is way too low. 48 volts is completely run down batteries. You need 50.9 volts to be charged up on your batteries. Nothing is going to work right until you get the right voltage.

I agree. Bad battery, or bad connection somewhere. Shouldn't drop that low under voltage. Check each battery under a load like that until you find the bad one.
